Wexner Center 2010-2011 performance line-up on OSU campus in Columbus

The Wexner for the Arts (on the Ohio State campus in Columbus) is the closest presenting series that’s all about cutting edge. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday.

Here are some highlights, but visit the web site for everything you ever wanted to know. I highly recommend making a day of it, there are some dandy places to dine and speaking of cutting edge, you can’t beat the Wexner gift shop.

Among the highlights:

·         Anna Deavere Smith, star of stage and screen, bringing her solo tour de force Let Me Down Easy, about coping with illness and injury, Feb. 22–27, 2011.

·         Oscar-nominated filmmaker Sam Green, with his “live documentary,” Utopia in Four Movements, Nov. 19.

·         The Wex’s first-ever programming collaboration with Franklin Park Conservatory: Susurrus, a site-specific audio play involving iPods at the conservatory, Oct. 14–24.

·         The return of Belgium’s les ballets C de la B, in the kickoff to the dance season Oct. 8.

·         Talks by Art Spiegelman (Maus) andMatt Groening (The Simpsons), part of Ohio State’s Festival of Cartoon Art in October.

·         A visit by Gremlins director Joe Dante, kicking off a month-long series of his films in October.

·         The ZOOM Family Film Festival returns December 2–5, with the Midwest premiere of the festival hit The Crocodiles from Germanyand some rare Jim Henson gems.
