Cincy Outdoor Classics plans Coffee and Shakes fundraiser Aug. 14
Cincinnati Outdoor Classics will have a night of free entertainment including music, a silent auction, and of course, Shakespeare beginning at 6 p.m. Aug. 14 at Rohs Street Café in Clifton Heights (245 West McMillan St.)
The “Coffee and Shakes”fundraiser is in support of its 2010 season (Sept. 1-12) of free Shakespeare at Seasongood Pavilion in Eden Park. Donations very welcome.
If you don’t know Cincy Outdoor Classics, its because the troupe of CCM Drama and Technical Design/Production students, alums and faculty debuted last year under a more Bard-like name, which suggested some confusion with Cincinnati Shakespeare, which also does free Shakespeare in area parks.
On this year’s Outdoor Classics playbill: Shakespeare’s ”Love’s Labour’s Lost,” an early comedy about a group of young nobleman who swear off the company of women. Complications arise when a princess and her ladies come to their court.
Curtain: 7 p.m. Sept 1-4, 10 and 11, 2 p.m. matinees Sept. 4,5 and 12. For more information visit the website at www.cincinnatioutdoorclassics.com. The company’s home page still lists Anton Chekhov one acts as curtain-raisers beginning 45 minutes before the main event.
