The 2010-2011 Human Race, Dayton Ballet seasons in Dayton
The Human Race and Dayton Balletseasons were on the books a couple of months ago, but things have been hopping in the Queen City and it just kept getting pushed back, and back, and back…
Human Race, which can be counted on to bring some surprises, brings the region its first production of Tracy Letts’ Pulitzer Prize-winning “August: Osage County,” in collaboration with Wright State University’s Theatre Department. The play will be produced on Wright State’s much larger stage, Sept. 23– Oct. 10.
Back at Human Race’s downtown Dayton home base:
Oct. 21-Nov. 7 — “The 39 Steps,” The comic, four-actor take on the 1935 Hitchcock film (and John Buchan’s novel) which toured through Cincinnati last season.
Dec. 2-19 — “8-Track: The Sound of the ’70s,” A revue of “rockin’ nostalgia” with a quartet breezing through hits made famous by artists from Donna Summer to the Eagles to Debby Boone. (No wonder nobody talks about the ’70s…)
Jan. 27-Feb 13 – “Twelfth Night,” Shakespeare’s romantic comedy of shipwrecked twins, bizarre love triangles and lots of mistaken identity.
April 14-May 1 — “Permanent Collection,” is a contemporary theatrical conversation about what happens when an important art collection is willed to an African-American college and the new director intends to switch out the “permanent collection.”
