Theresa Rebeck reading from her new novel at 7 at Kenwood Barnes & Noble

Cincinnati native daughter Theresa reads her new novel “Twelve Rooms with a View” tonight — wish I could be there but, Fringe commences. (Watch for first reviews tomorrow.) Check the preview of the reading at Cincinnati.com and CinStages.com.

The new Playhouse commission is in the hands of Ed Stern; is also at work on a novel. “I’ve written 160 pages, I like it a lot. It deals with identity – New York versus the Midwest, the way they’re not in dialogue with each other.”
For this novel she’s inspired by her own experiences. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children and, laughs, “I’ve always been an oddball. Cincinnati thinks I’m odd because I moved to new York, and in New York is suspicious of people with decent Midwestern manners. I’m the nicest person in New York.”
