Grammar Day Begets Fun Limerick Contest From Ragan.com and Boston Globe
And that’s our job. But for a change of pace, some of us find it refreshing to partake in diversionary writing exercises–like Ragan.com’s recent Limerick Contest, staged recently in honor of Grammar Day, March 4. Some of us are still groaning that we missed the competition.
Oh well, maybe next year. For others who missed it, here’s the winner by Alexa Samuels:
My ex-boyfriend’s, grammar, was minimal,
His, intelligence sharp, but, subliminal.
But, finally after, cracking,
I sent, him packing,
Because his, use of, commas, was criminal.
And for even more limerick fun, check out the Boston Globe’s St. Patrick’s Day limerick competition. You can enter up until March 12.
Special thanks to Barbie Dunn for crafting our introductory limerick.
