A number of models and categories recorded best-ever January

TORONTO, Feb. 2 /CNW/ – ’s (TCI) January 26 decision to delay deliveries of 8 select division models while it addressed the sticking accelerator pedal issue that may, in rare circumstances, occur in those models, resulted in softer in January – with 8,246 models sold (down 14.8% from January 2009).

Overall, TCI’s January were down 10.4% from January 2009. Lexus division reported a best-ever January with up 62.1% with 953 models sold.

Despite the division recall, a number of models and categories recorded best-ever January , as follows:

  -  Trucks: 3,946 (up 3.7%)
  -  Lexus luxury SUVs: 584 (up 122.1%)
  -  Venza: 968 (up 114.6%)
  -  Tacoma 4×4: 494 (up 12.3%)
  -  Lexus RX 350: 480 (up 231.0%)

“We would like to thank all of our customers for their continued confidence at this time,” said Stephen Beatty at TCI. “We are currently shipping pedal components to our Dealers and we anticipate modifications to customer vehicles to begin later this week. We also anticipate that new vehicle suspended as part of our recall action will resume this weekend.”
